The ColinaHerradura project is going to use local materials and building methods. In this part of Texas, that means metal structures. These structures are economical, durable and appropriate.
The project will proceed in two phases. The first phase will include a garage/storage building and a barndominium – a building that will be a residence initially and at a later date be converted into a barn for horses. The second phase will include a residence with supporting garage, pool and greenhouse. There is a moderate amount of terrain change on the site and the decision has been made to place the Phase 1 buildings on a hill side and the Phase 2 buildings at the top of the hill. The program for Phase 1 has progressed to a point where we can now produce a computer model in SketchUp.
We will describe some of the features of this Phase 1 design soon.
